Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Right, I dont often post on here so you wont really know my situation. Ill tell you now!

I got my Rabbit Misty from a friend of a friend around 5 months ago, the reason they got rid of her was they had a newborn baby and never had time for misty, so as I had just lost my rabbit poppy I took her on to a loving home. She was very timid and hated picking up. Misty gradually got into the routine of being fed at the same time and gradually gained confidence to sit on out knee (walking out of her cage onto our knees). Misty was also quite protective over her cage ad grunted and went for us.

2 weeks ago in her bedding box in her cage she had made a nest, no fur or anything in it just compacted down hay to make a nest. Behiavour was ok no grunting etc.

NOW She has started running around our feet, climbing up them and biting our trousers (Mum, dad and I) so its jsut not one person. Misty is also making a grunting sound, its really hard to describe.

Misty has a dewlap so shes female, i have also looked at her bits

Im confused HAVE I a HE/SHE rabbit

Any advice????

That's normal for female rabbits, I think most of them mount more than males do, I know mine does  Her poor boyfriend gets the brunt of it  and they're both neutered. But thankfully it's not often.

I have a male that makes nests and he was castrated nearly 2yrs ago. On Tuesday when I was cleaning him out he sat in the nest to guard it
