  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

This is a bit of a weird one but i noticed this morning that on the bottom of my poppys hind feet there are two little red marks - one on each foot. My partner seems to think these are her heels but i just want to check! Is this normal??? We have never noticed it before!

are the red bits sore, could have sore hocks? I can't say I've noticed any red bits on the bottom of my bunnies feet :?

hmmm i don't know i didn't touch them!!!!

what are sore hocks??? how can they be cured and i don't suppose you know what has caused this????

Is he a rex? My Buster get's sore hocks as he is a rex. It use to be worse for him when he was in the house as the carpets gave him friction burns?

Yeah, my Elvis had sore hocks, he wasnt a rex though. I used zinc and caster oil cream and just rubbed a bit in each day. The redness went down and eventually they healed. I think you can use sudocrem aswell :?

:D

no she's not a rex just a loveable lop!!! :p

after reading all the posts i think it's been caused her and my cat chasing each other!!!! She skids across the carpet as she cant stop quickly enough (they are the best of friends!)

I think i will try the zinc and castor oil idea.

Thanks for all your replies!

Bunnies do normally have a little bald spot right on their heal, there should be a sort of comb over of fur protecting it though :) If it's red/sore then as you say it could be her sliding around on the carpet.
