Help-strange looking claw

Nicola C

Mama Doe
Hello everyone,
I've just noticed that my little bunny Mea has one slightly strange looking claw on one of her back paws. I don't think you can see it in the pics below but one nail seems to be sticking up away from the other ones. I have just trimmed her other claws, but am worried she may have broken this one or if it is deformed or something :( :( I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas anyone? My bunnies claws seem to be growing a lot from being indoors at the mo, maybe it's something to do with them not digging outdoors. Perhaps I should try to get them out in their run once in a while, but I'm worried about them going indoors, outdoors, indoors.....Any suggestions would be apreciated.
Thanks
Nicola x

Hiya. Dont worry!! The outer nails often grow at an odd angle. If you can just trim a bit off every now and then it will be fine. With regard to putting your Bun outside.....it is best not to subject her to too drastic changes in temperature. So if she is used to central heating at the moment I would leave it a while until the weather warms up. Jane and Buns xx

Cool, thanks Jane. I was worried she looked like she had been neglected with squiffy claws! I have been trimming small amounts off every 3-4 weeks, they seem to grow so fast. I did ask the vet to do it, but he said to put her outside on the patio to wear them down, despite my telling him that she is an indoor bun at the mo, grrrr.....I'm really nervous of catching the blood vessel, so have perhaps not been trimming off enough, eek! Scary! I think I will find a new vet who will show me exactly how to do it.
Thanks again.

The middle of the day at the moment isnt too bad a little run outside wont hurt.Unless its freezing i think it would benifit him to go out for a while. val :)
