How much space??

Ok so we would really like to adopt a couple of bunnies but both of us have only ever had buns outside and we're not sure if the space we have is enough. We live in a 1 bed flat, they would have a converted dogcage in the kitchen and would be able to run free in the kitchen during the day. Its a narrow longish kitchen. When ds is in bed they can have the hall and livingroom once it is bunnyproofed. Is this okay? we have a little frontgarden so they can get some outside time everyday. I got a whole load of books from the library yesterday but never having had an inside bunny I feel a bit unsure.
