  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Anyone know anything about....

The problem with someone who is infertile is that you don't know if it is an incompatability between a boy and a girl, a problem that the girl has or a problem that the boys has. Sometimes you will get a pair who simply do not prove fruitful, the only way you will find out is to change partners. If the female goes onto have a litter by another male don't presume that the first male was a dud, same goes for changing a males female. Even after quite few unproductive matings, never assume the male or female is sterile, particularly with the males. Sometimes it is an incompatablity problem ... the same occurs with some humans.

Breeding rabbits is not one of my hobbies  but I would guess that an infertile male looks the same as any fertile male

I'm not even trying to breed them, a male has turned up in a group of 'sisters'

His bits look like he's been neutered, just shriveled sacks :?

Where could I find any info on infertile males?

I've looked on the Rab Refs site and I cant find anything :?
