Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

help!!! rabbits front paws are broken? spriained???

hi

my rabbit was indoors and i went to give her a carrot and she wouldn't move...

i picked her up and checked her legs and nothing seems broken. i put her down and she was moving her back paws but couldnt really move her front ones. she wasn't eating so i have syringe fed her corrinder and carrots in water which see took well and seemed to enjoy. ive put her back in her hutch so shes surrounded by 'normal' things.

do you think she has sprained her front paws?? im up at 6am any way so i will check her then if shes still not right which i dont think she will be i will be taking her to the vets asap!!!

hi

vet doesn't think there is anything wrong but has given her an anti inflam jab incase there is, and if she is still not right im to take her back on friday.

so thats sort of some good news. shes eating and drinking ok, just cant move about much, poor thing. maybe she has bruised them or pulled a muscle or something????

fingers crossed she will be ok in a few days

xxxxx

Hiya,

If the vet can't feel anything wrong with them then that rules out being broken. I've heard of difficulty moving the back paws, but front is unusual. It might just be a case of seeing what the anti-inflam jab does. Hopefully in a few days she'll be back to normal and it will just be one of those off mysteries :)
