Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Boo is not eating very much

hunnybun

Mama Doe
Boo my wee bun that was found in a field recently has stopped eating so well and seems withdrawn! I am awful worried about her.

I have been feeding her lots of hay, excel junior, porridge, carrot, kiwi,

any advice?

Thanks

You need to take Boo to the Vet TODAY!! She may be going into GI stasis which is FATAL if left untreated. You say Boo is 'depressed'....she may be in pain. A Vet check is required ASAP. Jane and Buns xx

She is eating just not as well as she was. And she is very thin anyway so can't afford to loose any weight, she was only 2.5lbs when she came into the rescue.
I will be taking her to see the vet this morning. I think she has been through a lot in her short life and needs lots of TLC. She was doing so well and now has reverted back to how she was at the beginning :( :(

Sounds like teeth problems to me. Maybe that was why she was "let go" and found in a field in the 1st place, because the previous owners didn't want to pay vets bills to get the teeth sorted. Hope you get on ok at the vet.

Vet can't find anything specific, her gut is relaxed, but her teeth may be the problem. She is only very small, :(

we are giving a another day to see how she goes. I am not keen on her getting an anesthetic :(

Poor Boo, I am off to make her some porridge and tea.

I hope Boo will be ok. It does sound like it could be teeth problems. Is she better eating softer food? I agree with everyone else, a vet trip is a very good idea.

Boo had recieved more fluids today, she is slighly improved and loves having a cuddle. Just have to take one day at a time with her :(

Little Boo has picked up really well again, she is eating quite well and has gained a little weight, lets hope she stays well this time :D
