Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Would you?

Have an op done on a bun on the day one of your most treasured died?

I've got a spay due on the 10th Feb the day her brother and my much loved baby boy died, I don't know whether to go ahead with it or not  :(

Would You?

Hi Gem

Of course you miss her brother and your baby bun, sadly it's the price we pay for caring for them and loving them so much. If we were to have that time back again, we would do exactly the same! Sadly, some bunnies never know what it's like to have a bunny mum like you!

I would honestly say, because you have had to ask the question about whether anyone else would spey one of their other buns on this sad day - I would just move the operation to another day! That way, you wont associate it with the loss of your bun and you can remember the good times you had with him. Also, you will feel more relaxed when your beloved bun's sister has her little operation.

After all, what's another day?? the vets will still be there the day after! It can wait.

Take care and kind regards

Carol

It is a worry having an op done on a bun, if it doesn't feel right, don't do that day. Don't stress yourself over it.

Hope everything goes ok when she does have it done!
