  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Has anyone got any pictures of an abcess behind the eye?

How would you tell that something is wrong with the eye if the bun is already blind :?:

Thanx

Hiya Gem :)
If a bunny has an abscess behind the eye, swelling may be visible, and /or discharge can come out of the eye and nose.
Are you concerned one of your bunnies has a problem then? :(

Hope this helps?

best wishes

Its not one of mine thankfully its one at the rescue.

She's blind in both eyes but instead of like the white suface being round its disapeared and gone sort of opaque and you can see what looks like pus and a capillary behind the lens

Sorry thats not very clear, its really hard to explain

my vet shone a light into Maa's eye to see what was behind it - you should take her to a vet and ask them to have a look as she might need treatment or surgery.

Thanx Jane,

She is going to the vets, problem is she is blind in both eyes but they don't look like either of the pics on the link.

Thanx everyone!
