  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I had my bunny vaccinated against myxi a couple of years ago. I didn't keep up with the jabs as thought not necessary as a house bunny who never goes out as he runs in as too scared. I hate 'over medication' and thought this was the case. thanks to the super advice on here, I booked Jacob to have his jab on Monday with the V whatever one to follow in a couple of weeks. I will keep this up now, though I thought an annual would suffice as low risk, please lt me know if wrong on that. I wanted to say a proper thankyou for helping Jacob and for helping me to be a better bunny mummy. I want to always do my best and have more confidence now that I am. Thanks and I am sorry I was wrong and put Jacob at risk.

I'd say 6 monthy at the moment even for a house bunny because there's been so much myxi about, better to be safe than sorry. All my house bunnies are done 6 monthly

i believe for the extra one jab (thats all it is) i would do mysi twice even if your vets sas its low risk area, every low risk area can turn to a high risk area through an eperdemic.

I was only intending on getting Alfie vaccinated once a year!!! maybe i'll take him for another when i take Holly for her vaccinations.
