  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Another snuffly bun - should she be separated from boyfriend

My friend has recently bonded her femail bun, Rosie, with her male, Sunny.

Rosie does not stop sneezing, she sneezed a few times when she got her but now it is constant!!!!

My friend is really worried that her boy who is in great health will get it too but they have bonded so well and are soo in love with each other it would be a shame to separate.

she is taking her to the vet tonight but do you think she shoudl separate them and as a result break the bond??

She also has another bun and all their hutches are together, im wondering if he will get it too..

My poor friend is soo worried

Hiya! :D There's no point in seperating them now as IF the sneezy bun does have 'snuffles' the other bun has already been exposed to it. So I'd just let the happy couple stay together. Ihave had bonded buns where one has developed symptoms of snuffles yet the other remained symtom free. Jane and Buns xx

Thanks jane,

Thats what I thought actually but wanted to check with the experts!

They have been living next to each other for the last 6 weeks and are now living in a hutch together full time- im wondering if its the stress that has triggered it off.

My friend said it is literally one sneeze after another - berludy snuffles!
