  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I didn't get a discount on my vaccines this year but i had only just shifted vets and obviously they didn't know me, but i get discounts on all sorts of stuff now. I also have an account so i pay them a monthly amount instead of paying as i get treatment and yes you will have to inform your old vet that you are moving and they will need to pass on all your records to your new vets once your registered XXX

.

Eve It's worth asking for a discount as most vets would give you one with the number of rabbits you own. Vets prices vary considerably and so does their quality of service ..so ring round and get recommendations and prices, stress how many buns you have. My vet does discount..another offered me cheaper prices but I was not happy with the level of care...the vet i use now is excellent :D

i get a discount but am i little peeved with my vets at themoment for various reasons but today i went in and instead of giving me my usual 20% of vacs he has now decided without warning that he is only gonna give 10% from now on, i think its a cheek after the money i have spent in there over the last month!

When I have taken piggies in who have had previous medical problems, we always get details of the animals old vet, our vet usually contacts them and the old notes are then usually faxed over to them.
