  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

hhmmmm, I would like to know this too, sure there must be a time when the females become un-fertile for their own sake :? :? :? I guess the question could be raised as to why there is an age limit on breeding, this might give us an insight :? :?

Well theres a question  , not sure but i would think so maybe not quite like our own. Bredders of show rabbits will start a doe off breeding at about 6 mths or later for the bigger breeds. Then would probebly stop at about 2- 3yrs and retire them. Of course they could carry on for a lot longer if left to there own devises  , but i would guess its unlikly for a rabbit to have any babys after about 5-6yrs. Thats just my opion though, im sure someone may no of a rabbit that had some later. As a rule their litters get smaller with age so if they were done to one baby at a time then they would be getting to the end of the breeding time. If a rabbit is very overweight it will stop them getting pregnant though. I think we could do with a vet to answere this one. val
