I'm here again!
My other Rex rabbit; Billy, is 99% bald and has been for at least 6 months now! He suffers from bad Pasteurella (extremely snuffly all the time and Pasteurella abscesses popping up all over his body). He also suffers from re-occuring head tilt. Added to this, he's missing part of his ear, when another rabbit attacked him prior to me rescuing him and a strange jaw, which makes him have a constant grin!
He is constantly at the vets, where he has been checked for mites, he has been treated with ear drops for his head tilt (continuous) and I have to syringe Baytril through to him twice a day (which he doesn't like at all, and every time I do this he pee's all over me!).
The main thing which concerns me is his baldness! He used to live outside, but he now lives inside, in my spare room, where it's nice and warm for him.
Billy also eats all the time - rabbit mix and fresh vegetables. He eats much more than all the other rabbits, which are much larger than him. He also drinks quite a lot! Despite this, he is only very slight and weighs only 1.7kg.
When he's having difficulty breathing, I use Vicks Nasal Spray, which does the trick and he's happy enough with it! He's currently being tested for "Ringworm", which I am inclined to think is the problem. It may be the reason why he's never full and constantly eats. However, the vets have even suggested he may have something called "Cushions Disease"!
The obvious solution is to take Billy to a Specialist too, but I was just wondering whether anyone had any similar experiences, or whether anybody had read anything about this condition.
Kind Regards
Carol
