  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Not feeling well??

I have noticed that my bunny "Bubbles" has not been eating much, not even her beloved bread piece. Yesturday she seemed alright except for very small droppings. And today, I have changed her litterbox this morning, and there was no urine and very few droppings.

When she was out for excersize today she hopped around for awhile then wanted to lay down more than play. Now its later on tonight and their is still very few droppings, that are really small in size, and still no unrine. And she seems a little less active in her cage, just lying down. Any suggestions?

Thanks again!

You need to get her to the vet.
Smaller and fewer droppings can be a sign of gastrointestinal stasis. Especially if you can hear her grinding her teeth loudly, that is a sign she is in pain. If not, get her to the vet anyway. The fewer and smaller droppings may be due to her not eating, but you NEED to get her to the vet immediately and find out the reason that she is not eating.

P-L-E-A-S-E get your bunny to the vet NOW!!.......The symptoms you describe cannot be left to 'see how she is later'. Sadly Gut Stasis (which is what it sounds like) can be FATAL. Again, PLEASE DO NOT DELAY....GET YOUR BUN TO THE VET NOW!! Let us know how you get on. Jane and Bunsxx

Yes sounds like bloat or gut stasis, one of my rabbits has suffered with this a couple of times, your bunny really does need to see a vet its very uncomfortable for them

OKay, I have got her a appointment for 3:30 today (US time) I hope she'll be alright. And I can get her out of her carrier okay without her freaking out. Is there anything I should do or know before I go?

I'll keep you guys updated on her vets appointment later on today. *Crosses Fingers*
