Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
Hello,

We have a bunny in UK quarantine at the moment who is due out in January and will come to live in Reading. He has dental problems and will need regular teeth trimming. I've looked on the RCVS website and the vets that was recommended to me is not listed there, which I find puzzling. It would put my mind at rest if someone could could point me in the direction of a trusted bunny vet in the Reading area. Please feel free to PM me. Thanks.

Oh Louisa, I can definately reccommend rob at beechwood vets in woodley, beechwood avenue.

they were great with Buddy. He had severe dental probs for years and i trusted rob with his life, he was excellent with him and was so good with me too when it was finally time to let him go..... I cant recommmend him enough. Hes wonderful.

Buddy had his back teeth done every 5 months for about 5 years. he was always looked after so well and they did everything to help me out. thye are a little pricey, but it was worth every penny to have the reassurance that he was in excellent hands.

When I was in Reading I drove to Mr Chitty, Strathmore Vet Centre, Andover for specialist treatment and advice but it was a nightmare (I live closer now but it is still a pain to get to).

I have heard good things about Castle Vets in Reading but have no personal experience with them. I wasn't happy with Oakley Vet Centre, Caversham as the vet I saw didn't seem to be very up to date with rabbit care, however that could have changed in two years  and my MIL works there as a receptionist so I shouldn't down it ;) !

Greenfields is in Bracknell so perhaps a bit far to recommend a vet however http://www.readingrabbits.org.uk/ are based in Caversham and the lady that runs it is lovely, she may be able to recommend her vet to you (for all I know it is Oakley  ).
