  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

pooy bum

My bunny has a pooy bum is and has lost her appetite is there anything I can give her to help stop this apart from hay. I have been giving her alittle bit of recovery food is that ok

Hiya - can you tell us a little more about what diet your little bunny has been used to - you need to keep a very watchful eye on her and if your at all worried about your bunny's condition then I'd get Veterinary Advice quickly - When bunnies stop eating there is a high danger of them going into gut statis and with a pooy bum a secondary danger is that your bunny will become dehydrated - is she drinking? - is she showing any interest in her surroundings or is she just sitting hunched up? - Is she grinding her teeth at all - this might indicate tummy pain - sorry for all the questions but this is the only way we can help.

But as mentioned if your in any doubt - get her to the Vets as they go down hill so quickly.

Hope she's o.k.

If you have any probiotic, you could give her some of that. I think the recovery has probiotic in it though, so if she's getting some of that down her, that's good.
