Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Hello,

Please could anyone give me some advice on Rabbit Insurance. Does anybody know of a pet insurance company that covers rabbits. I have phoned a couple of companies and the quotes I have been given seem quite pricey.

Any advice of Companies to try would be most appreciated.

Thank you,

I think there are only a couple of companies that do insurance for rabbits. One is petplan, and the other is petprotect.

I know some of you on here have insurance, and others don't. I'm still undecided about whether to insure Kahlo or not. I got a quote from petplan of approximately £12 per month, but still with a £60 excess for each treatment. That's more than we pay to insure the entire contents of our flat each month, with a higher excess (and that includes an increased premium for the ridiculous amount of CDs and musical equipment we have).

So, I'm hovering between the 'Kahlo bank account' idea and the insurance at the moment. Also, would the fact that the vet has already noticed slight startings of spurs on her bottom back teeth mean that she wouldn't be covered for dental treatment? If so, then I'm definitely not going with the insurance!
