Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny not eating

Lanny

Warren Scout
Hi,

We are a bit worried about Fern as she is off her food, she wouldn't even eat any dried banana which she goes crazy for.

We have had to leave her today, she had done a couple of poops overnight, but she still isn't interested in her food.

If she hasn't eaten her food by the time we get home then I think we will have to take her to the vet - but any suggestions as to what might be wrong? She seems ok in herself in every other way

It sounds as if her tummy is slowing down, which can be really serious. If she's not eaten or pooped soon, I'd take her to the vet.

definately a vet trip  it could be statis or teeth problems but either way, she really needs to see a vet asap :)

My rex didnt eat for a day and seemed bright enough. Next morning he was rasping and has a respiratory infection. It came on very quickly. I have a thread running with his progress. Very glad I took him to the vet yesterday and brought him in from the cold.
Hope all goes well
Louisa
