  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Yalta is having one of her turns again - we've given some infacol about 2 hours ago - just wondering when we can give some more ?

thanks

you can give 2mls to begin with and 1ml every hour after that! not sure for how long though so if it persists i would get to the vets!

thanks.

emergency vet cover here is pretty poor, she has these fairly frequently and normally massage+infacol work.

It's taking longer this time though.

thanks

do you have a heat pad, try her on that and have you tried liquid parafin?

We'll we had a really stressful night - Yalta was really grinding her teeth in pain, we'd tried infacol and liquid parafin + lots of tummy rubs, but nothing worked :(

We would have gone to the vets last night - but the emergency vet is difficult to get hold of (being in the sticks they mainly deal with farm animals).

We stayed up late with her - and were going to take her to the vet this morning.

We went to bed in the end to give her some peace and quiet (she was trying to sleep), and got up early to check on her again ....

went in her room this morning - and she was there eating her food, chewing hay and had a big drink of water - phew.

The transformation from last night was huge. The tummy rubs and things must have helped her. We gave her some kitty malt this morning, and we're keeping a close eye on her. (she's pooped too).

Bunnys - what they like ?? - they put us though so much.

thanks for the support :)

Glad she's much better.
Squidgy did this to me on Thursday night, although one dose of Infacol, some probiotic and a couple of tummy rubs sorted him out fortunately. One minute he looked at death's door, the next he was bouncing around looking at my worried face going 'what's up mum? why aren't you in bed' :D
