sores on rabbits feet

does anyones rabbits get sores on their feet from being outside in the garden. A couple of mine have I was wondering whether its because I let them out too much or something is there anything I can do to prevent sores

Sore hocks are more common in rex rabbits as they don't have as much fur on their feet. Are they rexes?

no just normal bunnies. But they are out all day from about 7am to bout 6pm. I thought maybe because they are running around all day. Or maybe cause its wet outside sometimes that it could make them sore.

Mine have perminant access to runs on paving slabs without trouble :) It could just be they happen to have less fur.

Making sure their nails don't get long helps - though if they run around I imagine they wear quite well on their own. Also that they don't get over weight as that put more pressure on their feet.

Giving them an area to sit that is raised might help. Mine have a big tray (about 2'x18" filled with straw tucked under the hutch (it sits above the run) so it's shelyered enough to stay dry. It has their hay in so they spend a far amount of time in that.

They do have a shed that they have acsess to all day. I just want to make sure I am not doing anything wrong. one of the rabbits that have it is getting on now so I thought maybe it was because he was old and was bit weak. But I have brought him in now but I cant have all my rabbits in otherwise the would be no room for me lol

Aww, maybe he's got a little arthritus or something and he's sitting back on his heals more.

I think bunnybazzar sell a sore paws cream - that may help? And vetbed is good if he's indoors :)

I noticed last night that Mikey has a sore paw. IUts only on the front foot and is only one pad that is exposed Any ideas ?

I notice Squidgy had sore hocks when we first got him, and he started to live as a house bunny. The vet told me that carpet isn't good for their feet, someting about the texture, so Squidgy now has cotton throws down where he sits most, and in his hutch. I was also told to put a little vaseline on his sore bits. Has anyone els had this advice?

Mikey is a house bunny and wont go i nt e front room where we have carpey. The rest is woodne floor and tiles

I used nappy cream (zinc and castor oil cream) or sudacrem, i think its the Zinc that helps the healing process and takes the redness down. I used it on Elvis when he had sore hocks because he was on carpet (free range bun) a lot of the time. It cleared up in no time.

Denzil has vet bed on the bottom of his cage now to prevent any sore hocks but I have the cream on stand by just incase
