  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Zorro has pnemonia, but outlook is good

Took my new babies to the vet today for their check up and when i went out Zorro had an awful runny nose. Luckily the appt. was only an hour away. Everything looks great with Lulu but Zorro has a mild case of pnemonia he is being treated for. Luckily she thinks it was just caused by stress of the move and should be just fine. He is an oto dwarf dont know if I spelled it right though. Well anyhow I got them separated now and they are going to have to be that way for a while. The vet said we need to wait another 3 months or until Zorro's testicles drop to fix him. She said that her advise was just to neuter zorro and not to spay lulu as the surgery is much harder for the females to recover from. Anyhow, thought yo might like an update.

Hospitalized now

Well poor little baby got hospitalized today. He was doing about the same this morning when I gave him the meds then this afternoon he was cleaning his paws and just crashed over and flopped a bit. So they admitted him and are going to give him iv fluids and keep an eye on him. I pray he gets better because I can't stand to lose another bun. I haven't had them long but already am soooo attached. Anyhow be thinking of him.
