  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Back along, you said in a thread about bonding that you put a hole in the wire between the two runs, I think - at what stage in the bonding process did you do this? I had all 4 of mine in the kitchen this afternoon and they were gorgeous together - cleaning and cuddling each other but when I put them in one of the runs they fought. Now, I was prepared for a bit of this but I thought it was getting a bit serious so separated them. I cant put them in a neutral hutch/run cos I havent got one - any advice please :(

It wasn't until after they were bonded I took the wire out between the runs - they'd been living together a couple of weeks.

Who are you bonding - it tends to be easier to put a boy in a girls territory than the other way around - though I'm not sure that helps with four.

Can you secure them in the kitchen over night - block the doorway? Then give them longer together and give the run you want to use a good srub with disinfectant to remove all the smells and move everything it in around.

Thanks Tamsin - I think Ill try that over the weekend - I did put some things from each run in together but I think it was the sleeping quarters bit that did it!! It was a bit scary cos they all had a go at each other at the same time and even the bonded pairs were fighting! I dont think it was that bad really and they are all ok but I just panicked!
