Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Snuffles?

Patches24

Young Bun
Hi Everyone

Surely rabbits just sometimes sneeze coz they've got something up their nose? I know there's other symptoms with sunffles, but my lionhead used to sneeze when she was in her litter tray with wood shavings. This surely can't be snuffles? It's also stopped since I changed the litter...

Anyone care to educate me pls? :)

Thanks

Sarah

yep i have a bunnie that sneezes sometimes and thinking about it so does hagrid, they can get thinks that irrate there noses too, but if it is constant or they are getting a discharge from it i would seek advise from a vet!

It can be hard to tell till your rabbit actualy comes down with it badly. If there is ever any discharge from the nose ,running or white stuff then its more than likly to be snuffles. Some rabbits can manage with it and you wouldnt know till suddenly its full blown due to stress or something that triggers it. val

Interesting about the shavings :? If the bun has stopped now it sounds like the shavings had something to do with it??? If a bun does get snuffles you need to go to the vet ASAP as they can go downhill rapidly
