Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lop ear question

Young Bun
I just got a new Lop bunny and one of his ears is always up and the other is always down. I was wondering if this was normal or if his ear could be broken or have something wrong with it.

PS- I can't think of a name for my new bunny! He's a light brown lop any ideas would be appreciated!

Your bunny sounds soo cute! I think some bunnies are born with ears with one up and down or the aeroplane/helicopter look of ears straight out! I think its when their parents are lop and uppie ears. I'm really no expert so hopefully one of the others will be online later to let you know.

Please post pics soon! xx :)

Rolf - mini lop

Our little man is only 6 months but when I got him as I liked the fact that 1 of his ears was lop but other went over his head like a bobby chalton hair cut! Noone else wanted him but me and boyfriend!

Then few weeks later one morning came down and he was a lop! Have a theory - his balls may be related to his ears??!!! :D

Half lop ears are usualy the result of cross breedibg or babys that have come from parents that dont have a good ear drop. Nothing wrong with that, it does make them a bit different. val
