  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

not sure it would have been the infacol that was the case, more the gut stasis!

Hiya Infacol should be fine for bunnies, but we only give 0.5ml maximum a day for 7 days...and have used it without any problems.
However I do not recommend you give medication to your bunny unless you have sought veterinary attention if you have any concerns re your bunnies health.
If your bunny died after giving Infacol it was probably a rotten coincidence and more likely your bunny was very poorly than after affects of Infacol.

Hope this helps?
Best wishes

hi

If your bunny is really bloated I guess she will be in pain - has she been given painkillers at the vets? I can't see infacol killing a rabbit either.

I think we have to be really careful with self-medication. Its OK as a bit of relief but if a bunny is showing definite signs of illness, it should be taken to a Vet. I speak from experience of my own health as I'm now on medication for my thyroid for the rest of my life and there's a possibility I brough on the problem by self medicating... too long to go into here but correct, trust me.

i REARLY THINK THAT IF YOUR UNSURE YOU SHOULD NOT BE GIVING YOUR RABBIT ANYTHING AT ALL TAKE IT TO THE VETS FIRST AND FIND OUT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM . VAL
