Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

clear gel type substance coming from bottom

bubble

Young Bun
Little 'Jiggy' has some gel type substance coming from her bottom... the blobs are quite small, but i have never seen this before... it doesn't have a smell, and the gel is clear...

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? any info asap would be appreciated...

Thanks

Bubble and Chris

I've just posted here http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/tam/viewtopic.php?t=10264
Might help. I found some of the stuff in his food bowl and just some around his bits in general, so not quite sure where it came from, and it was only there the one day. Vet couldn't find anything wrong with him so can't give you a name of what it was or anything but he had a hunch it was some kind of infection.

Might be worth speaking to who you got her from to see if she had this before she was rehomed?! They may have some more info for you! Hope it's nothing serious xxx

Do the bubbles have a noticable pop sound to them when you try to clean them away from the bunnies bottom. If they do it sounds like the same thing that my baby bunny is suffering with.
Strange and nasty. Hope your bunny gets better soon.

it's strange, i noticed these little blobs on the carpet... we couldn't see anything on her, and she seems bouncy and is eating ok...

have just spoken to the emergency vet, who seemed to think that at the moment, it is just a little mucus and we need to keep an eye on her, and as soon as she stops eating happily, or stops bouncing around, we need to call her again and get her checked tonight...

hopefully she's fine and i'm just panicking too much!!!

Some years ago my Charlie bun had stringy clear goo come out of his bum a couple of times in one day, I called the vet and like yours they said it was probably mucus of some sort and to keep any eye on him. It stopped the next day and he was fine, so fingers crossed this will be the same for your bun.
