  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I have spoke to a vet and they told me to keep her warm and give her the recovery food but its running through her.

if you are that worried i would take her to see the emergancy vet, better that than find her not alive in the morning if you think it is that bad!

eve x

I still think she needs to see a vet, ASAP. If it is runny poo and it is carrying on, then a vet should be called.

I'd have to agree there. Or at least tell the vet on the 'phone your concerns about the recovery not staying in her system.

If that vet is not useful, find another vet. Not all vet are equal. They should be exotic pet speicalist who has treated rabbits extensively. You can find out before you drive down there.

hiya everyone thanks alot I took my rabbit to the vet as an emergency and they gave her about 8 different injections but she seems to be picking up. The vet sed it could be something to do with her teeth as her eyes were watering this morning so he filed them down and she seems to be eating abit more now. fingers crossed :)

bunny ill

Hi linzi :) so pleased that your bunny is feeling better :) sounds as though she had a tummy upset caused by her teeth problems :( hope she stay well

shes cleaning her little feet as Im writing this Im sooo glad I took her too the vets and it only cost me £15.00 i thought it was gunna cost me a fortune. I feel so guilty as a few weeks ago I had a beautiful little bunny called chocolate that I brought home from work. She had a pooy bum but I didnt take her to the vets because i thought she was getting better. She died in my arms and I cried for ages. I will never make that mistake again
