Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

For all those near me I'm located near Portsmouth.

Myxi Buns have been put to sleep in a Vets in Cosham and a Vets in Waterlooville

Please please make sure all jabs are up to date and don't hesitate to get your bun to the vet if you think something is wrong

I'm very scared now as a lot of mine are behind on jabs

I shall be taking 10 with me to the vets this evening

i have just phoned my vet no mexi as yet but i have had to book midnight in for a booster as hes now due im so scared im having a mare now the other 3 will bdue next week so they will go on tuesday and wednesday to keep them up to date i love my babys i dont want to ,lose them

Funny how it's appearing in pockets isn't it? My vet (in Chelmsford) says they haven't had a single confirmed case this year, yet last year they had absolutely loads. Weird.

hi

Hi there

Im near Portsmouth but 2 of mine are done every year, the new one isnt yet but I will get her done very soon, I used to work for my vet and we did see yearly cases from August onwards and its always best to vaccinate in May to build up immunity for the summer/autemn.

Spoke to my vet on friday when pepper and rupert went for their injections.

He said that last year was a particularly bad year for Mixi in Wigan.
He has not heard of anything in the Wigan/ Bolton area as yet.

So sort of relieved, all my lot are up to date so its not too worrisome for me.

hi

Yes some vets do suggest 6 monthly, I think it varies from vet to vet,but I must admit, mine does suggest from May.

Ive always had them done anyway and they seem to be ok thank god.

I had to take all my brothers 4 rabbits to be put down a few years back and thats wasnt pleasant, I know its expensive and all that and I must admit I do put the money by for mine for injects and cant dictate to people what to do but I hated that, it was so sad, they all had it.

I juts had to have one of mine euthanized due to Myxi and she had been vaccinated! her boyfriend had it too but he has survived :D thank goodness :D

We vaccinate every 6 months here, but it just shows you, they can still get Myxi even if vaccinated :?
