Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Extra floppy ears - is it the summer heat?

Just wondering: My rabbit, Douglas, has got 'helicopter ears' but lately they have been really floppy - hanging almost horizontally with his head. He is in excellent health, there does not seem to be anything wrong with him - I think it might be the summer heat or that he is just really relaxed. They aren't like this all the time - just more than usual. Any thoughts...

i would say the heat is doing this
if u have a litter in hot weather there ears tend to be longer this is because they use there ears to give off heat as they cant sweat

hi

I noticed half my girls became helicopter lops when it was really hot - I guess the extra blood supply to cool them via their ears makes their ears heavier? Looks cute anyway :)

wow...great theory. That answer my post a few weeks ago on the same problem. I thought she injured herself when she sneak into that hole, but now my guts tell me it's the weather.
