  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Just one more question about spaying?

Will Bindi need to come indoors while she is recovering from her spay?

I have to take in my male guinea pig, Woogie. His future isn't looking too great!! I think he needs a little help to find Boogie (RIP).

So while i am there (if i remember, and can say it through all the tears) i will book an appointment for Bindi to be spayed.

When Marmalade and Treacle had their spays done, I kept them inside for the first night, so I could keep an eye on them and limit their movements. Marmalade did 1 night then went back into the hutch onto newspaper and an old towel. Treacle did 2 nights as she was feeling sorry for herself and hadn't eaten much the first night/ day.
As long as the temperature isn't too low and the hutch too drafty, then its personal preference.

When I had my girls done I put them into the conservatory for the night just to stop the drafts. They ate and drank straight away and there were no problems, I think they got sick of sitting in the hutch all day actually! I think if the weather stays like this (warm and still) then when Josie gets spayed in a few weeks I'll just leave her outside but covered over (shes usually covered anyway).

If it happens, I hope Woogie is happier on the other side with his friend, I'm sure they'll have plenty of fun together there =) *hugs to you*
