Can I ask a silly question please?

Young Bun
Hi All

I've read posts recently about using litter trays in cages, are these just regular cat litter trays? I really could do with some in my cages!

Thanks

Keels & her 7 gorgeous buns

Corner litter trays are best I find, you can get them from lots of pet shops. They are essentially the same as cat ones, yes! Just plastic trays. I use wood-based pellets for them, as they're really absorbent and don't smell (much!).

I use the corner ones as they have a high back. Tey are sort of triangular.. but you can use normal cat litter ones.....

Hiya, I use regular cat trays, in the area they use for the toilet, make sure you uses a none clumping litter in the trays. :D

like this

I used to use the corner trays but my bunnies wouldnt go in them and would pee next to them. Now i have a large cat litter tray (from wilkinsons) filled with wood based litter next to the hay rack so they sit in there and munch and poop etc! :D

I use a corner litter tray stood inside a normal tray for Dolce - that worked really well :D

You can also use storage boxes if you want higher sides.

hi

my bunnies love their storage boxes - like Tamsin says it's easier to keep the mess in the right place with them - I can't imagine a rabbit fitting in a cat litter tray comfortably - they like to spend hours in them eating hay.

Mine have a large litter tray from Wilkos and it seems fine although I think the triangular ones will be better as we have to put extra newspaper in the corner of it.Elve, where are your storage boxes from? they are lovely and just the size I'm looking for to use as a bed filled with hay for them for Winter.Thanks.

Thank you for all the replies and piccies. I've been on-line this afternoon to see if anyone sells them but wasn't very successful. I'll have to ask the local pet shop if they can get hold of the hi-corner ones. Failing this I'll have a go with the large seed trays. XxX

hi

my boxes (and just about everything I own!) is from good old Willkos too - how would I manage without them?

my rabbit seems to only want to use the toilet in his sleeping quarters. I have tried moving the tray to the run part, and putting hay there for him to nibble on but no joy.

Do I resign myself to the fact he will always use this corner now?

Hi I tried the high back corner litter tray with Moet and Chandon but they didn't like it and kept tossing it about. what I did use was the plastic bottom tray (circular) for a plant pot and covered this with the sawdust and that worked with them. they don't cost much either, less than £1 from garden shops or B+Q!
