Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Moulting

Still quite new to the rabbit thing. Rudy has been with me 9 months now although it feels like forever. He entered his first proper full on moult last week since he got here and I was just wondering how long its likely to last. Have been grooming him everyday and the slicker brush is always full of hair at the end. Dont want to make him go bald though :?

moult can take a long or short time , theres no telling. The weather can make a difference if it keeps changing it can slow it down, and some rabbits moult quicker than others. All you can do is groom. sorry its not better news. val :D

my rabbit's currently moulting but he's still new to us and won't let us handle him let alone brush him. Is there anything i can do to help prevent him getting hairballs?

This is probably what you don't want to hear but Totti has been moulting solidly for at least 2 months now... and he's a long way off bald  I really don't know where all this fluff is coming from

My blossom has been looking like a patch work quilt for the last four weeks another week should see her finished :D she looks half the size though
