  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

hi
its actually really hot today for a change!

its good for me but not good for my bunny though! he is really hot at the moment, so does anyone have any ideas to keep him cool?

his hutch isnt in direct sunlight but its not in the shade cuz we dont have any shade at all in the garden, it is also just as hot inside as it is outside so bringing him inside wont be any better!

help please!

Also ceramic tiles are nice for them to lay down on and keep cool......... I've even been known to revert to using dinner plates to help them  Does the trick but they do get a bit hairy and pooed on, be sure to wash them well afterwards

Alfie was really hot earlier in his hutch, its not in direct sunlight either but some shines through the trees!

I put him in the run under a big tree and put a dish of water down which he guzzled (i think its nicer for them to drink from a dish then the bottles when its so hot!)

Also, get an old evion bottle fill it halfway with water, freeze it and put it into the hutch.
