I was going to post this site on the 'Veggie Diets' topic, but my computer won't load the last page so I can't post on it  .
Anyway I thought some of you may be interested in the new Vegan Forum (I am not vegan), as a place to get information. Sorry I don't know how to put up the link so that you just click on it :? .

Oh cool I'll have to have a look. Do you want to know something odd? When I came into work today, I could smell sour milk , when you become vegan do you start smelling sour milk is this normal?

Hi Tree, I don't know if that is normal  . However, when I lived in Hong Kong the Chinese said that they didn't like the smell of people from the West as they reckon we smell of dairy products when we sweat  :? .

I guess I can see how it works really, when you're a none smoker people who smoke smell like fags and people who eat spices food smell like spices and also garlic breath is fairly normal too.

Although I can't smell milk anymore as I've an office on my own, it was just when I walked through the office doors this morning.

It would be terrible if someone had bad BO in the office and it was that I could smell and everyone in the office had been too polite to say anything then I come in going " omg whats stinks"

you do, it's so nice now you don't work here, the office is fresh, well other then the milky smell

 this is the oddest topic ever!!

milk bo, I have heard it all now!!

dont think I could go vegan...although I dare say I would be a lot thinner than I am now

You'd think so wouldn't you :?

I've been pretty much vegan (I'm veggie when I go out because it's impossible to get anything sensible in non-specialist restaurants) for a couple of months now and it's not helping me lose weight. I think it's because I used to use the low fat alternatives for everything dairy like spread and milk, but soya spreads and milk only come in full fat (equivalent to half fat dairy) varieties. I've always eaten fairly healthily as well so the change from meat to pulses hasn't made much of a difference either  .

On the upside I *feel* healthier, and I feel better about my diet in a moral sense :D

Can't say I've noticed any new smells Tree  , although I find the boyfriend's breath a bit repulsive after he's been eating meat or cheese. Nothing new there then - this is the man who used to eat pickled onions right before bed

hmm thats interesting to hear, we have a fairly healthy diet here, my big problem is loving my food too much and eating more than I should  we dont eat much meat, very rarely red meat, and eat mainly fish and fresh veg etc, so from what you say I dont think I would see much weight change either then

Thats what i thought ! been vegan now for near 3 1/2 yrs and only lost weight when I started going to the gym. I don't eat choc, butter, cheese but still the same sort of shape  - well , thats the way God made me !

Brilliant!

I've been vegan for a year now & my fiance has been for vegan for eight.

I would have to agree that when you go dairy free that the smell of milk IS sour. It's gross. I never thought I'd be able to cope with soya milk in my tea instead, but it's amazing what you get used to.
The thought of cow's milk in my tea makes me feel sick these days. Must be all those pesticide residues, antibiotics, puss, hormones etc....

Sorry, I do hope no one's eating :?

I took the kids to the farm in the 6 weeks holiday and we saw a cow being milked... it was horrible! It really put me off milk, I'm not a huge lover of it anyway but I think I am going to try some soya this weekend to try it! I heard that it gets some getting used to, so I will try it for a while and see how it goes! :D

Yay Laura!

It takes a little time for your taste buds to get used to it, but it's so worth it. I was worried about the lack of yummy chocolate available without milk and then I found Booja Booja.....

*drools like Homer Simpson*

opps, sorry, I kinda gave the impression that I am vegan! omg, i never actually thought about the milk in choc (Im on a diet now anyway, so am not eating it now, lol!) I just thought about cows milk with cereal and stuff!
