  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

New Kit
:D hi all, having have a shock the other morning when going to clean out my buns cage, i am now the proud gran to 9 babies. (so much for buying 2 girls) would just like a bit of advice as to when to give the babies a good check, they are now 5 days old and mum is fine with me popping my head in and having a look , she has even let me touch 1,(it was out the nest so i had to put it back in)she will leave the nest to have a run in the garden. any advice at all would be gratedfully received

they each have their own cage anyway, they was only sharing a run, i just need to know when i can check the babies, thanks anyway

hi

just had a look at your other post - did that lump on the mum's nipple turn out OK?

Sorry I don't know anything about baby rabbits though - sounds like they're doing fine so maybe running a search using the link at the top of the page would help? I would leave it all alone for a min of 2 weeks just to avoid stressing mum :)

The babies should start coming out of the nest and exploring in about 2 weeks time and that's a good time to start handling them if the mum doesn't mind.

If you get the male neutered now you'll be able to put him back in with the mum when the babies leave. It takes 6 weeks after neutering for him to stop being fertile and the hormones to go.
