Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
my poppy seems to have started to drink loads she is going through atleast 2 big bunny bottles a day plus a bowl of water should i be concerned

thats an awful lot of water for one bunny to be drinking . Have you changed the food or have you noticed another other changes such as excess weeing (which you would expect) or lethargy ? I would eb consulting a vet about this as this can be a sign of anything from kidney infection/problems , diabetes etc . I really don,t think that this is normal at all , in fact it is very very worrying .

Hmmm, that's a heck of a lot of water for a bun to get through daily :? You say she has only recently changed her habits with water? I would be making an appointment at the vets for her to be tested for a urine infection and bloods done for kidney and liver levels.
Sending healing and soothing vibes to her :)

Is he outdoor or indoor? It is very hot lately, I also drank more water myself. kidney inflammation can cause a lot of urine, but not the desire to drink a lot of water. Although from what I know, kidney inflammation can comes and goes.

we havent changedher food but ger behaviour has chaged alot anyway she isnt weeing that much she is an indoor bunny but has free run even when we are out xx

drinking too much

Hi i dont know wether this will help. My outside bunny cookie decided he would start drinking a bottle a day of water. It turned out that he was bored. We put loads more stuff in his massive run to occupy him with and it worked. now he drinks a lot less..

Hi Jodi,

Think it would be best to get him checked over by the vet, his water increase may not be medically related but there are a number of medical problems where an increase in water intake is due to a medical issue so best to take him to be on the safe side.

Hi Jodi,
I had a bun that drank as much as yours is now, she was checked for diabetas and other various things, we ended up at a specialist vets that dealt in exotic diseases and it turned out to be econculi which was treated with milkthisle and panacur. His he urinating as much as he is drinking?
Get him to the vets.
