  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Moulting Bunnies

Alpha Buck
Anyone got any tips to stop it or help them? At the moment everyday I can stroke the 3 outside and hair will fly off them!

Its all over the hutch and it gets all over me

hi

If you damp your hands with water, the hair sticks to your hands, then just roll your hands together and you have a nice ball of fluff :)

A flea comb's good too - ball the fluff again by rolling it.

were the new fur is growing through u can see and in them areas just gently pluck the fur as it will come out quite easy anyway cause the new coat is pushing it out and this will help the new coat come through quicker

lol we all do that if its ready to come out then pluck away, but a daily groom will help no end and get it over with sooner.U shouldnt be thinking of trying to stop the moult as rabbits need to change there coats. They have a winter coat at the moment and its summer, would u want your overcoat on in this weather? lol :D

Suppose I worded it wrong, I know they need to lose their fur to make room for new.

Just want to see what I can do as a 3 bunnies together produce a hell of a lot of fur!!!
