  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

i read somewhere that you can use baby wipes to give rabbits a quick clean is this true is it really safe to use baby wipes on rabbits? Thanks Emma

I've read that on here too. Think it should be ok if they are the non-scented ones (I've never used them though). I think if they are made for babies then they should be pretty safe.

Hiya yes we use baby wipes all the time, unscented ones are the best, but they are all fairly safe :)

They work really well, I just use the cheap ones from sainsbury's - I use them on their fur/feet etc and also to clean their cage/crate out. Extremely useful, Lavender tends to lick whatever I wipe with them but she's never come to any harm so they must be OK.

hi

Don't forget the good old face-flannel/washcloth/whatever you call them - they're only about 20p each from Wilkos - I have a whole bundle of them for cleaning the bunnies trays etc - and just bung them in the washing machine with our washing, after giving them a shake outside if they've got litter and bits on - they come in pretty colours too! :)
