hi

if i left a dwarf living outside in the winter, would it suffer from the cold more than a normal size rabbit because it is smaller?

Hiya Michelle :)
I would think your dwarf bunny would be fine outside over Winter, unless he/ she is elderly or frail and then it may be best to pop them indoors overnight.
As long as your bunny (whatever breed) has a nice deep bed of hay to curl up in and perhaps a heatpad inside the hutch on the coldest nights, you should not have any problems.
We cover the hutches with several blankets and then a plastic cover on top at night during Winter, this helps insulate the hutch and keep bunny snug.
Best wishes

Hiya

My dwarf bunny is fine outside in the winter :) She has lots of straw to snuggle in + also has a cat bed and a cardboard box with lots more straw and hay in!! I also gave her a Snugglesafe when it was really cold - I must invest in another this year as 2 between 3 buns doesn't go very well  I also have a plastic cover over the front of her hutch and 2 blankets in the winter - so the cold just can't get in!

Amy has a super thick coat too - I don't know bout ur bun? So I'm actually more worried about my Rex being outside and tend to wrap her up even more!

As long as she has been outside as the weather gets colder she will moult into a proper winter coat and should be fine. It would be wise to take the precautions mentioned above and you could even spay her and get a her a little friend to keep her company and to cuddle up to over winter ;) !
