Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Syringe feeding

We've had in a bunny with really overgrown bad teeth. I know there some sort of food you can get that can be mashed and fed via a syringe. Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks

recovery and critical care.
Or if you have a pellet food you can mash it with warm water usually.. Ive mashed up science selective pellets before.

i mash up cheekys excel food with warm water , i mash in a bit banana as well to make it taste nicer , throw it all in the blender and viola , a gooey mess which he loves :D

I've blended allsorts in mine for the bunnies.
I bought the blender especially for them.

Grass soup was a favourite when one of mine was poorly (it had some of the straw coloured poo thrown in it as well). Find that I make them nice veggie mixes in the winter which they absolutely love.......

.......one of these days I will use it to make the O/H some veggie soup (and save the pulp for the buns  )

I often use Science Selective which does mix well with water for syringe feeding if I have no critical care mix. When I am trying to get them off the critical care I often then wean them on to the science selective which they seem to love.
