Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

DIRTY RABBIT

Young Bun
My rabbit is black and white and shes always filthy, does anyone have any tips on keeping her clean? Any bathing tips and does anyone know of a spray or something which you can put on them to clean the stains?

Does your bunny have trouble grooming herself? If she does then you need to make sure you brush out all of nasties from her fur including her bum. If not, then you should get used to a dirty bun!

Skye's feet were really dirty when I got her, it was the ink off the news paper that the rescue used in the bottom of the cages.

Presumably when you say she's filthy - its from being outside and playing - she does'nt have a dirty bottom particularly then :?: as this is something completely different and can be helped through diet unless there is an underlying medical problem which is preventing her from grooming herself.

If its play dirt - they a nice grooming spray is Agassi which is available from :www.bunnybazaar.co.uk - this spray is lovely and you can just brush it through their coats and its an insect repellant too.

they also do a shampoo as well which is really nice.

For more stubborn stains you could try some baby wipes with a little diluted bunny shampoo on :?:

Hope this helps

Adele has posted on here before about making a paste with cornflour and applying it to stains then grooming out once dry - apparently it works like a dry bath!
