  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Will someone please shoot me :-(

I didn't want to confess this as am scared you'll all think I'm horrid.

As some of you may know, Fawn had her first accidental litter not long ago.
We have just rehomed her last 2, Karma and Ginger.

I had Hutch castrated to prevent the problem happening again.
All went well, so I decided to go on holiday...

When I got back, my family had let Hutch out with Fawn! (2 weeks post op)
Apparentley the vet had told my mum that it was alright for them to be together after a fortnight.

Im sure that's too soon???

The thing is Fawn has made a nest. I feel so cruel, could she be pregnant again!?

I fear she may be...last time she was pregnant she started eating silly things, like rhubarb.
Today she started on a holly bush...

What shall I do?

We were always told 2 weeks after neutering our buns by our vet! Lucky no littleuns resulted. If he tried getting her pregnant she might think she is even if he was firing blanks.

You could have her neutered now, if she is pregnant that would prevent it. It is possible as long as she's no particularly far along.

All mine were neutered as soon as their bits dropped tho, he's more of an adult. I think it could be either way. Most vets recommend longer usually 4-6 weeks I think.

An accident happened to Lolly at the rescue and she was more than likely pregnant. She was neutered the day after to prevent babies. It is an option but needs to be soon after bun bonks

My adult netherland dwarf was neutered and got in with the female a week after he was done, she didn't have any babies :) so fingers crossed!

Polly has had phantom pregs ever since I put her back with Pip (7 weeks after his snip) but none in the last couple of weeks thank goodness - so maybe shes just doing that? :? Hope so!
