Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Help Needed (Bunny Not Eating)

kayj

Wise Old Thumper
I took a bun in yesterday that apparently has been left to wander all around a neighbourhood since November 2004, It is really tame considering,(Its a long story how I came to get him, see my thread on Rabbit welfare, 'Should I inform the RSPCA') I have given him some variousw types of food, hay plus fresh food (as this is obvioulsy what it has been eating) it doesn't seem to be eating very much at all, could it be because I have taken him out of the enviroment he has been use to and need to adjust, I have seen him eat a bit of hay so I know he is eating something. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

It may be that he, as you say just needs to get used to a new environment. Have you tried giving him some probiotics? Just in case his tummy is a little upset by the change in diet.

I have put him some Bio Lapis in his water, I will have a chat with vet this afternoon.

pick some grass for him and mix it with his food and some bunny safe plants if this is what he's ben used to living on

Awwww little Bunster - could well be your bunny needs a little time to adjust to the new environment but great that your getting a bunny MOT with your Vet too as if he's been Free Range in the local neighbourhood loordy knows what he could have been eating

Sending a snuggle for the new boy.

Bunny is fine and healthy and eating great now it was a case of her adjusting. The owner told me she had been vaccinated and neutered at the RSPCA, I checked up with them and guess what she lied (Im not surprised) if she was prepared to let the bun wander then she isn't going to take time to care of the vaccs and neutering is she.

Awww glad to hear your new arrival is settleing in well and has now starting eating o.k - you'd think folks would at least tell you the truth wouldn't u but at least this little bundle of bunny is in safe hands now - well done you :)
