  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

It's not for people with low income, it's only for people on specific benefits.

When I was a poor student and I needed help with veterinary care they pretty much told me to sod off!

The PDSA are wonderful.
I use the one in Stoke.
You must be recieving financial help with housing costs through either Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit to qualify.

I can't fault them. I'm sure most vets would have put hutch to sleep with his eye infection.
The PDSA, operated and he is alive and kicking today.
I took Fawn their when she ate rhubarb, and were were seen almost immeadiatley.

Hutch was neutered with a local vet last week. The PDSA do all the post op care.
They were amazing.

glad to here good reports about them, I am getting signed up asap....I know I cant get bunny neutered there but interesting to here they will do the aftercare

I wish they would do neuters. I would have felt so much better if the PDSA did Hutchley.
When he had his eye removed, I took him into the room and the vet was
Steve Leonard off the tele, that vet that does the wildlife thingies!
That's Hutchley hoo haa's claim to fame![/i]

I was placed at the PDSA in Bristol for six months this year, my placement ended last week. They're a wonderful charity. As mentioned above, you have to be on Housing or Council Tax benefit to qualify for their care, and you need to bring proof of it (a letter dated within the last 6 months) and proof of your signature when you go to register. They help sick or injured animals, so don't do preventative medicine, although some of the centres are now introducing low-cost neutering and vaccs.

Clipping nails is preventative, really, so I doubt they'd do it for you. We always tended to do it if the bun was in for something else.[/i]
