Rescue rabbits in need of homes

Marmite

New Kit
Hi all

I have had a number of phone calls from people who are wanting to rehome their rabbits some with cages and some dont have any hutches to come with or as one lady said it is not in any state to give to someone. One person even had to buy food as i said i didnt have any in at the time and she said that she had ran out about a week ago and bought some the next day to give to me as supplies until i could get to the shop. Also if i get a bit of food off someone i can see what they have been eating.
Anyway to cut a long story short i am no longer able to help these poor buns as i have ferrets and to take on a bun would not be fair on either the bun or the ferrets.
Most people dont want money for them just a 'good' home however they never ask questions apart from can you take it??
Is there a site or page that people would be able to list these buns and the area and for each one the possibility of transport some of the way if the people who can take it on live further away?
I would prerfer a bun only site as they are more dedicated and specialised in the subject and needs of the buns.
Just an idea as i hate having to say leavie it with me and i will try and find a 'safe house' for them.
Any thoughts appreciated

i am near newcastle but the rescues not run from home tend to turn buns away as there is an overflow of them. too many shops selling and not enough responsible owners. Also the people who ring tend to want an answer and will prefer to dump them in the local countryside rather than ring around. I tend to do that for them but everywhere both large and small tend to be full or dont bother with buns as there are too many and therefore tend to be 'stuck' in centres for a long period of time.
If any one has any rescues in the NE details who take in any animals they will always be useful and i may not have them all. Even the local police force whom i work closly with dont have any push over centres (which isuppose is a good thing as i dont agree with over ovrowding ect but if they did have space they dont tend to give it to buns)

A note on the subject my partner used to work at a local go kart track and the number of pet coloured buns that lived around it and also used to cross the tracks even when teh karts were on was unbelievable some were so tame they would come to you. - Some even found crates and lived in them like tehy were hutches popping out for their run about food and water. Some were so domesticated they were a danger to them selves and they managed to find a small holding who laid a mini field out for the buns and put mesh under the grass to prevent foxes. They were neutered and all lived togehter in tunnel burrows and a shed accessed througha tube became their bed room however people became aware of her and used to leave buns outside or contact her to take them in. She demanded that they neutered them before she would but now her space is full also.
People seem quite happy that a pet bun used to food water and a hutch will quite happily survive in the wild which is why we go into local schools and centres to try and educate kids with the use of a few of our rescue animals who appreciate humans and thrive on TLC and attention.

On the main Rabbit Rehome link Tamsin posted there is an A-Z of rescues that specialise in small animals/rabbits hopefully one near you will have some space.
