  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Nala has always had some small patches of white on her back which the vet said is probably skin mites, however as she is not scratching lots or loosing fur she said it was ok to leave it for now. I have never seen anything on Simba since getting her. But today i have just been sat grooming him and found a big scabby bit on his back but not white it is dried blood in his fur.. hard to spot if there is any white patches as his fur is white but cant see any sore areas. Then i found 2 more dried blood scabs on his ear. I have looked at Nala's ears and they have some dried skin on them but not alot.
Do you think Simba has got skin mites of her or is it more likely she has bitten him?? I havent seen them fight at all.. usually they chase each other or snuggle up so i hope its not her but i havent seen this before. They are going for the jabs next week so i can ask them to check it again then.

Skip had a bald patch and it had a scab on it. Vets said it might be mites and made him drink some stuff but it went away on it's own. I think he must have injured himself somehow but it healed quickly and didn't get any worse.
