  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

does anyone know of any good ones i bought mikki gilatines and they are useless and was told its a good make

I'm actualy on the look out for a new pair. Mine are called Classic Comfort Care. There OK if you get the angle just right but if you dont they tend to crush the nail rather the cut it.

Oh no! I've justordered some Mikki guillotines.....
Oh well, have to see how it goes.
Sorry can't recommend any to you.

I don't know what the mikki guillatines are, and like others have tried various ones, I have no problems with the ones I have at the moment - they're dog ones, with a whole to put the claw in and a big fixed blade comes across when you squeeze the handle. I've never had any problems with them. I looked for some on the internet so you could see what I mean, the closest I found are these..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20751&item=4356041897&tc=photo on ebay.

I've had a pair like this with replaceable blades too, they just crushed the claw, try to get the ones with the fixed thick blade. I would have got them from a local pet shop, may even have been pets at home.

i got a pair like this from Wilkinsons.. they are quite a bit cheaper there and work great on both of mine.

hmmm. I have been using ferret nail clippers. They seem to be working very well. But I am no rabbit expert. Sorry that wasn't of much help -_-'
