When to spay?

Six months is a good age, though it can be a little earlier if need be. I don't know about how long you'd have to leave it after birth, but I would think at least until the babies were weaned.

I'm getting an 18 week bunny from a rescue centre, she has just had a litter last night so I won't be bringing her home for a while. I don't wanna get her done too soon and add to all the stress, but I don't wanna leave it too late.

Plus, my boy bunny Joey is already neutered, will bonding be easier if I keep them seperated until the new bunny is spayed?

hi

Poor baby having babies already! :( She won't have even finished growing herself...

If your boy is neutered then there's no need to hurry with a spay - like you say, it's more stress on top of all she's been through, plus going to a new home is stressful for them too.

Plenty of people bond neutered bucks with unspayed females - it depends on the temperament of the female - some females won't calm down and settle till they've been spayed - it's hard to say what such a young rabbit will be like, but I guess she's not even reached the dreaded hormonal stage yet, although she's had babies - they usually get stroppy after about 7 months, although some never get like that.

As long as she's spayed before she's 2, you should avoid any risks from uterine cancer - If she's already bonded it depends on how gentle the boy bunny is, and how closely bonded they are, as to whether she can go straight back in with him or not....If they're not already bonded then she should be given 6 weeks on her own to heal up properly.

It's a tricky decision though

Yeah, there's the stress of having babies and coming to a new home. Plus meeting my bunny too. I was going to leave it for a while before I got her spayed but I wasn't sure when it would be too late. I think I might wait until she's really settled in here first, if it should be done before she's two then that'll give her plenty of time to get used to us.
