  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

sudacream - really dopey question (sorry)

Okay I think I am having a senior moment - and I feel like such a wally having to ask this  - so my apologies.

I noticed Twinkle had a sore bottom today (along with her lovely moult  ) so once I had cleaned it I put some sudacream on it (keep calling it sudafed which shows how dopey I am today).

I smeared it on and brought her indoors to sit on some vet bed - do I wash the sudacream off now (I put it on this morning) or do I just leave it on and wash her in the morning. :?

If she was a person I would leave it to soak in - but i don't think it will soak in through fur.

Thanks

lol dopey Pam :D (and Twinkle)

Hiya Pam. you can leave the cream to just soak in overnight no problem :)
When you first apply it you can pat off any excess with a tissue after a minute or two, and then just leave it. Add more cream when the original cream disappears into the skin :)
If you need to get the cream into the skin, we usually trim the fur around that area with safety scissors, then you can get to the skin better
hope this makes sense? it has been a looooonnnnggggg day

thanks Adele :D

I feel a bit guilty as she is off to Lynda and Jim's for the weekend - I think I will leave the cutting of the fur to Lynda's steady hands.

It's not that I am a wimp, but...........

lol Pam

 Oooooo this'll be fun fun fun! Just you bring her to her Aunty Lynda tomorrow, she'll be fine  She's probably been holding off having a sore foofoo til the last moment, cos she knew she was coming to us
